I think that CC is the most similar character to me... I love her emblematic way to act, her rare smile and most of all her strongness. She has lived for many many years, suffering, being forgotten, being hated... But when she met Lelouch she appeared intrested in him, in his project... She find out a new hope, initially she was a calculating and cold person... She had her own sad wish... But then she became stronger and her target changed: She wanted to live and help Lelouch, she wanted to share with him all the pain they had suffered...
I am drawn into this photograph. I want to smell the flowers and understand what she is thinking. I love how the mirror isn't perfect, with it's spots and marks. Yet the models skin is so perfect and smooth giving a definite definition between the reflection and the person. The model looks like a porcelain doll but in the mirror you see it is a real person. The colors remind me of older times while the hair doesn't fit in giving it a unique contrast. I find the fact that there in the mirror to distract means the photographer was aware of what was being shot well done! Over all I really enjoy this image!
I wont be commenting on the cosplay part, simply because I know very little about it. I don't even know Code Geass .
Anyways, What I really like about this photo is the old feeling it has to it. The mirror looks old, the flowers too and the color scheme helps a lot. Only problem with this is the books in the corner. They doesn't really fit in. The cropping and composition is good too. You really get a feeling of being close to her and feel what she's feeling. The composition with her at one side and nothing on the other side of the mirror works well, it makes the photo interesting to look at. Lastly I would like to comment on the model. She looks very natural and especially her expression fits the photo well. Good job to her!
I love the way you used a light green/hints of yellow wig for the C.C. cosplay! I don't like how some people use the neon-green colour... though it does fit, sometimes... I also like how the bangs are cut
C.C.'s side profile is captured perfectly, while the concept of the mirror and wilted flowers complement her personality. The slight trickle of rich hair is elegant in its smoothly flows over the shoulder. The earthy tones of the room and woodwork offer a sharp contrast from the bright, bold colours (the model's smooth skin-tone, green hair, & white shirt) and further emphasizes the loneliness conveyed, the rough texture of the aforementioned mirror creates an alternate reflection suggestive of symbolic character expression.
The three pictures, put together create a soulful storytelling with a touch of charm & mystique. You make a very beautiful C.C. Thanks a lot for sharing this lovely cosplaywork! Code Geass FTW!
sorry you had to wait to long for the comment, is was very busy with going on holiday and such but here we go!
i dont know the character you're dressed up as, but i like the picuture a lot the effect of the mirror and the dry flowers make the girl very mysterious. also, becouse of the dark colors, the wig and the pale skin really stand out. great job on the picture
I'm not really an expert in Photography nor have I watched Code Geass, but as an impartial observer, I have only 3 things to comment on:
Firstly, the wig is really neat and smooth, and it doesn't look fake or out of place (like in most cosplays); Secondly, the books could have been moved from there when taking the photo, I feel like they don't belong there; And lastly, doing the shoot while looking into a mirror was a great idea, it gives the whole photo a 'cute' feeling, as well as a bit of mystery.
I really like the composition of the photo, and the wig placement is really lovely, so it really looks like it's your hair. It's a really contemplative piece, and I think many people will interpret it differently, so it's always interesting to see how people will interpret the message creatively. The reflection in the mirror is portrayed really well, and I like the contrast of clarity out of the mirror versus grainy-ness of the reflection and the small cracks showing on the surface of the mirror. It makes you think that there may be cracks in the foundation of what the girl is remembering, rather than her thinking of happy memories. All in all, good job!
I know nothing about the character so I can only comment on the costume and shot.
Firstly, the wig (I assume?) is really beautiful, I love the colour and the cut: it looks very natural. My only complaint is the way the hair falls in thin strands across the shoulder: perhaps having a clean, unbroken block of white here would be more dramatic.
I also like the way you use the mirror, showing us two angles of the model's face.
Lastly I like the juxtaposition of the punky green hair with a very demure, old fashioned pose. Very originally and beautifully executed.
I really love the character of CC myself and since my friends and I are planning to do a Code Geass group for a convention soon, I've got a cosplay outfit ready for her so I'm really glad you've given me an opportunity to share my thoughts. ^^♥
First of all, I really love the hair colour you've chosen. I've seen many CC wigs out there and this was the one I chose personally. Instead of the deeper green, I prefer this green with hints lengths of lemon yellow in it. The photography was also really good in capturing the different hair tones and bringing them out. I really love the setting you decided to shoot in and the flowers and books both add nice touches and go along really well with the expression. The overall atmosphere really matches CC's character, it's so well done!
If you have time for another similar shoot, perhaps play around with camera focuses? It would be interesting to see what could come out of different focuses between the reflection and real figure. Other than that, this is made of .
In the beginning, I must admit I've never critiqued cosplays, and I'm not that familiar with photography, but I'll try. :3 I've been watching Code Geass picture drama just now. You make me think some more about C.C. and her character.
The wig and outfit are cool. Just like C.C. Something with your facial expression is what bothers me. Maybe more mysterious smile or colder sad lips would fit better. The way your lips are on the photo is indifferent and I can't discern anything from it. C.C. was like that at the beginning of the anime, but later she showed emotions. The way you approach that bouquet is just like C.C., playful and unusual.
On the other hand, the interior in the photo is kinda odd, not something I'd associate with C.C., or Code Geass at all. Beige and brown colors are completely too soft for C.C. kind of type. More energetic or peculiar environment would suit her better. I really don't see any meaning or use for those books on the left. But, reflection in the mirror is interesting part and I like it. Not much can be seen from profile shot, and reflection shows face very well.
Overall, it's an interesting shot. One should be able to easily recognize C.C. even if she/he hasn't seen Code Geass.
